A Sea Es is a new and upcoming local Houston band who I had the chance to see at The Tontons tour kick off at Fitzgeralds on Feb. 3 along with Wild Moccasins. It was actually their first show, and they did amazing. A Sea Es’s performance was fun and quirky, the lead singer sported a Native American headdress. They have an upbeat indie/ pop sound that is something I could jam to while I’m cleaning up the house or going on a nice walk outside. I see big things happening for them in the near future, check their other songs out at their soundcloud.

220 Music has finally come out of what seems to be hiding and released a new tape. This eclectic collection of rampant thoughts, collegiate angst, broke tales, and anecdotes of love show the indicative style of each artist. This project reflects their growth as artists in reference to developing a progressive and mature sound wrapped around personal experiences. They said this EP will show “that they never left and soon fans will never let go.”
With the movie version of Hunger Games coming out in March, I recently read the book and was thoroughly impressed. It was extremely captivating in such a way that I completed the book in one day. Hunger Games is the first book in the trilogy written by Suzanne Collins.. don’t worry.. no vampires are involved. The book takes place in a world that seems to be post apocalyptic, where there are 13 districts, though only 12 are functioning. Of the 12 districts and male and female are chosen to represent their district in a grueling game, where they are pitted against each other and made to fight until the death. In order to not give away too much detail to those planning to see the movie I’ll stop there. I do however recommend the book. As it was a great read.
Jurassic Park may be on the horizon. Scientists in Russia say they have grown this flower (pictured above) utilizing material extracted from seeds deposited in the Siberian permafrost 30,000 years ago.The plants, named silene stenophylla, are from a time when wooly mammoths and saber-tooth cats roamed the planet. Last week we dropped the song “Fuck You” by Doughbeezy featuring Killa Kyleon, and today we have the video. The song is off of his highly anticipated next project Blue Magic set to release March 1st.
