Blue Skies is a nice, short documentary that I came across while perusing the Internet, as usual.

There is nothing I like more than coming across music that is refreshing and very honest. This quite short video (it only has a run time of about 5 minutes)  piqued my interest not only musically, but aesthetically as well. The starring duo in the doc goes by the name of Blue Labs Beats. The group is composed of the artist duo NK OK (Namali Kwaten) and Mr. DM (David Mrakpor). These two artists are known for their “musical gumbo” which is a collection of music from Afro-beat, grime ,jazz, neo-soul, Caribbean, soul music etc..  The documentary also includes some of the groups they have collaborated with such as  Theon Cross, Sumo Chief, and the Ezra Collective.

Blue Skies is visually beautiful and builds around the main subject matter of music. The doc is straightforward, minimalistic, yet complex and moody. It builds on the environment in which these artists live where creativity and instrumentalism is still appreciated. For any new music Soundcloud crate digger, this duo should bring new content to follow and keep you up to date with what’s going on across sea.
