Retail commercials, stores stocked with supplies, and tax-free weekend; it’s that time again!

Back to school season is amongst us.

With all of the stress that comes along with preparing for the school year, I want to make life a bit easier by plugging you in with a few events to get yourself and the kiddos ready to go.

August 19th: Family Back to School Party/ Bingo Night
7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Location: Keller Williams Memorial – 950 Corbindale Rd Ste. 100, Houston, TX 77024

August 20th: Free Back to School Hair Care
7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Location to be disclosed after registration and will be held in North Houston.

100 children in grades K-12 will receive a free style of their choice from a licensed cosmetologist. There will be a short class required in order for participants to receive free service. Donations will go toward providing supplies, hygiene packs, and “hair caps” to children with cancer. All participants must register and bring printed ticket to event.

August 20th: Back to School Bash & Book Drive Kickoff
12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Locations: Whole Foods Market Houston Stores – Houston, TX
All Whole Foods Market stores in Houston are hosting a Back-to-School Bash and Book Drive Kickoff. Families can enjoy storewide samples and free prizes, while 20 lucky winners from each store will receive a book bag packed with back-to-school treats! You are encouraged to bring gently used books for pre-K through fifth-grade children to kick off the Back-to-School Book Drive benefiting Books Between Kids.

August 21st: Black Business Challenge -Back 2 School Drive
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location:Tippy’s Soul Food – 7117 N Shepherd Dr., Houston, Texas 77091
Who doesn’t love a good backpack drive? There will be kids’ events, a DJ, food & drinks, and some of the crew from the 97.9 gang. Early registration is encouraged.

August 27th: SKINCARE 101 [back-to-school edition] hosted by SALVE
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: TBD
This one isn’t just for the kids. Salve founder, Dahlia Gelada is hosting a back-to-school skincare 101 class providing tips on keeping the skin blemish-free and fleeky as possible through natural remedies. Space is limited, so register here as soon as possible.
