Be sure to pick-up your copy, on newsstands August 12, as Kerry dishes on advice from her boss, Shonda Rhimes, and how she does not want to live in a color-blind world. The mother of two, and recent Emmy nom for HBO’s Confirmation, graced the cover in Victoria Beckham with soft flair, and effortless poise.
Taking notes from Super Mom, Shonda Rhimes, Kerry mentions the advice she received upon arrival of baby No. 2. “I consider myself busy…” says Washington “but Shonda has about four of five shows, three kids… If you feel like you have just the right amount of help, then you don’t have enough.” Seeing Rhimes dish out impactful works, raise a family, and motive herself everyday has to be an inspiring. She sets the trend to being the ultimate Super Mom-who other to follow if not her?
Although Kerry champions for diversity she also notes in the interview how she would like to be appreciated for her blackness, and not limited because of it. “I don’t want to not be African,” she says. “The goal is to live in a world where my race doesn’t limit my access, where I can see myself represented in the highest level of society without any limitation.”
