Soul of Sherif debuted a not-yet-released song at the Mind.Heart.Soul event last week as a precursor to his new music.

It’s always fun to run into one of your favorite Houston artists, so when I spoke to Soul of Sherif at AXIOM a couple of weeks ago, I was thrilled to find out he’d be doing a show soon. I’m used to the typical shows where he shares the stage with other dope Houston artists, but this one was especially fun because he introduced a brand new song!

The Mind.Heart.Soul show at the Studio at Warehouse Live was billed as a show featuring Soul of Sherif, JohnyyP (@SanBoomKid), and JamesCurtis (@imjamescurtis), mainly, but the audience got the delight of being introduced to King Judah and DJs Ftg and Creation @cre8shun. Sherif’s set featured a guest appearance by slept-on Houston rapper Doeman (@doemanxdyna), and another song with vocalist Deno Marquee (@denomarquee).

Sherif’s performance was lit, of course, with the usual dance break and pop-locking we have come to expect and love. What was especially cool, though, was the new song we got to get a sneak listen to called “Don’t Let the Soul Fool You.” The song described Sherif’s feelings about current events passionately, addressing the fact that yes, Soul of Sherif is a peace-loving dude who just wants to make music, be he is definitely wide awake when it comes to what’s going on in the world and what’s going on in his neighborhood. He’s not only commenting on social affairs, but on different people he’s encountered. Basically, he’s a lover and not a fighter, but don’t roll up on him.

The new song was just a precursor of more music to come from the Soul Man. He told me that he’s always “working hard to make the best music [he] can create.”

Well, come on, Sherif! We’re ready! The new song is not yet on SoundCloud, but until then, check out the rest of his music on his page at www.soundcloud.com/soulofsherif.
