Join the Hive Society Saturday, November 21, as we volunteer with #HashtagLunchbag to feed Houston’s homeless.
Driving through Downtown Houston and its surrounding areas, you cannot help but notice how many homeless and needy people there are in our city. As we approach the holiday season and the weather becomes colder, we do not want to forget about our fellow Houstonians who may be in need of a good meal.
#HashtagLunchbag events bring citizens together to pack meals (sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and water) into brown paper bags and distribute the lunches to those in need. Volunteers also write positive notes on Post-Its for those who receive the meals to read and be encouraged. The group was founded in Los Angeles, and has spread across the country with efforts to bring the community together to spark social change, restore humanity, and fight hunger. Hive Society members have volunteered with the group numerous times, and we try to make an effort to come out and volunteer every time they hold an event.
Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m to 12 p.m., the Hive will be at Grooves of Houston to support and volunteer, and we’re inviting you to meet us there! The Hive Society has been making philanthropy cool since its inception, and what’s cooler than helping to end hunger in our city? Even the smallest effort will spark a big change, and we’re doing our part. We know we can count on our supporters to meet us there and give back to the city that has given us so much.
Sign up with the Eventbrite link, and share it with all your friends. All volunteers are suggested to make a $10 donation to help support efforts with groceries and supplies.
