Wednesday nights are not your typical concert day, but once I heard The Internet was coming into town, I had no choice but to end Hump Day with a BANG! With nothing but good vibes and soothing vibrations, The Internet took Houston away at their “EgoDeath Tour” October 14th at Warehouse Live. The crowd fell in love with the live band’s performance of songs from Purple Naked Ladies, Feel Good, and their latest album EgoDeath. I was totally amazed at Syd’s voice and couldn’t have been more satisfied with the ambiance in the room. I was also in awe with the fan diversity The Internet brought out that night.

The Internet

To set it off right, the concert opened up with Milky Wayv, St. Beauty, and MoonChild and in my opinion, each group got the crowd ready to absorb The Internet’s stellar performance. The first song to get the tempo right was, “Get Away”, which also is the first song on the album. Syd’s energy kept everyone on their feet all night as she performed tracks from EgoDeath such as “Under Control”, “Girl”, “Special Affair”, “Just Sayin/I Tried”, and “Something’s Missing”. They also made sure to do joints like “Partners in Crime Pt. Two” and “DontCha” from their second album, Feel Good. No song was horribly performed, nor were there any delays or technical difficulties. Matt Martians, Jameel Bruner, Patrick Paige, Christopher A. Smith, also members of The Internet who play the souls-try instruments, assisted Syd in keeping the crowds’ heads nodding on beat all night.

The Internet

My favorite part was definitely when she switched it up and sang R&B artist Usher’s song, “You Don’t Have to Call.” Syd continued to connect with the audience as she shook hands and walked over to her most interactive fans to take pictures. The impeccable performance by The Internet will attract me to more of their concerts in the future. The Internet has five more shows left from their US/Canada tour, so if you missed out, a road trip should be in your plans!

And Yes, I had to get the “Got Ho’s” trucker hat worn by band member Jameel Bruner. A total Must Have!
