“Talk about it, make em’ talk about it. Life to me is currency, prosperity I got it,” – Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar’s first shoe collaboration with Reebok has already taken an interesting turn for the greater good. With this partnership, the message of Gang Unity that he portrays through his rhymes and his life living in Compton, California, served as inspiration for these new innovative Reebok Ventilators.
This collaboration should have been expected as a result to Kendrick’s featuring role in the New Reebok’s Classic Campaign “Be Ventilated“ in April 2015. From there, we can see that Reebok has been setting us up for this monumental release with this rising hip hop star.
Kendrick’s off white suede base Ventilators with alternating blue and red accents on each shoe is one of the top, uniquely created sneakers this year which is not an easy task given the recent collaborations that have graced the surface just mid-year of 2015.
The gang affiliations are labeled on each tongue tag which is inscribed in “Neutral”. With TDE branding also located on the tongue, the shoes are packed with both a rope and flat laces. It illustrates the fight Kendrick has been informing his fan base about throughout his musical career.
The sneakers are planned to hit the stores on July 18th for $143. Europe retailer Baas has already taking the efforts to move forward by stocking the Kendrick Lamar x Reebok Ventilator Collab online along with dropping off some new on foot shots which I believe are some really dope photos.
The Ventilators are very stylish, sporty, and versatile for perfect Athelesiure look. Its off white base makes it easy to pair with multiple pieces that are located in your closet.
Kendrick Lamar’s collaboration is a great fashion statement to bring peace, love, and unity through ending gang violence, for example, his single “i” where it shows how two gangs connect as a unit.
He pushes his voice through any avenue he attempts to purse which evokes the essence of a true artist, a person who uses their positive philosophy to embrace and inspire their listeners to be better human beings. Kendrick has been setting the tone with political, social, and musical statements of empowerment of black men, the justice system, and Gang violence in his recent album, To Pimp a Butterfly. This is a great outlet to encourage a young generation to set the standard and impact in a positive manner and Kendrick is hitting all cylinders with his message.
“Take advantage, do your best, my [neighbor] don’t stress you was granted everything inside thus planet, anything you imagine you possess, my [neighbor],” – Kendrick Lamar
