2015 is just days away and it’s bringing some pretty awesome movies to the big screen right along with it.

With only a few gems released this past year, I predict that 2015 will be not only a BIGGER but BETTER year in film full of sequels, action, controversy and steamy lust.

As previews and teasers are flying out the woodwork, take a look at some of the most exciting trailers out right now:

Last month, fellow bee Nina Ruff gave a positive review to the recently released trailer to this anticipated biopic focusing on the 1965 voting marches led by James Bevel, Hosea Williams, John Lewis & Martin Luther King Jr. The film is set to release just a week before Dr. King’s birthday. After the latest events in Ferguson, MO and Eric Garner’s death, Selma will definitely remind us of history repeating itself within America through its constant battles of rights and equality.

2.Taken 3

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want…. but I DO know that you can expect to see actor Liam Neeson battling it out once AGAIN in Taken 3, the final installment of the Taken film series. This go-round character Bryan Mills, every daughter’s superhero, is somehow framed in the murder of his ex-wife Lenore and forced to clear his name. The film is promised to be action-packed and goes more in-depth into Bryan’s past. Hopefully Taken 3 brings closure to the Mills family’s ongoing run-ins.

3.Escobar: Paradise Lost

“All empires are created of fire & blood.” –Pablo Escobar

The King of Cocaine himself Pablo Escobar is featured in this romantic-thriller film. The storyline follows the true story of Canadian Nick Brady, played by Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games), a surfer visiting his brother in Colombia for the summer. During his visit he falls in love with a beautiful girl named Maria, who just so happens to be the niece of infamous drug kingpin Pablo Escobar portrayed by Benicio Del Toro (Traffic). When Nick and Maria become engaged Nick must undergo problematic trials of loyalty to earn Escobar’s respect and trust to be considered family. I wonder how far he will go to prove his love. Ah, “summer lovin’, happened so fast.”

4. Black or White

Black or White, which has been heavily mis-titled “Black And White,” is another relevant film that raises awareness on a common racial debate amongst some in America, interracial relationships. Elliot Anderson portrayed by Academy Award winner Kevin Costner and Rowena played by Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer are in a custody battle over their biracial granddaughter Eloise. The young girl has lived with Elliot since the death of her mother who lost her life during childbirth. The recent death of his wife, Rowena argues that the child should be in custody with her father, a struggling drug addict. After seeing ignorant reactions from some individuals about the “controversial” 2013 Cheerios commercial featuring an interracial family, I’m eager to see how people respond to the film. Kevin Costner was so determined to bring this project to life by even funding the production with his own money.

5. Fifty Shades of Grey

This steamy book trilogy is one of 2015’s most anticipated films. Since its teaser this summer containing a snippet of a new seductive version of Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” to The Weeknd’s latest single “Earned It” being released, with a soundtrack like this I think it’s safe to say that this will be one provocative film. Prepare to round up your girls for a ladies night out. This trailer gives a more in-depth view of what producers have been cooking up all year. Dakota Johnson being casted as the curious Anastasia Steele is a perfect match! While on the other hand co-star Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey still has mixed reviews. Although I can say that from the trailer his eyes are giving me the whole mysterious, dark side persona that readers fell in love with in the books. Let’s hope that they’re able to pull off the chemistry in this film. Until then……..“Laters, baby.”

8. Pitch Perfect 2

It’s time to practice those “oohs and aahs” and get your vocal chords ready. The Bellas are back next summer in Pitch Perfect 2! The quirky group of women that we fell in love with are ready to hit the stage again as they enter an international a capella competition that no American group has ever won. Filming took place at Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge, LA as well as other locations within Baton Rouge. You can also expect to see the Treblemakers hit a few numbers in this musical-comedy sequel. I can’t wait to hear what the ladies have cooked up for next year.

9. Jurassic World

Next summer, the park is opened. This past Thanksgiving the trailer for the long-awaited fourth installment of the Jurassic Park film series was released. Originally scheduled to show at the silver screen back in 2005, this project has been passed around for almost ten years for script revisions. They’ve been working on this film longer than Dr. Dre has been in the studio recording Detox. Unlike the first film Steven Spielberg is executive producer instead of director. Set 22 years later after the last adventure of terror the trailer captures the beauty of the original Isla Nubar with a modern twist in technology throughout the park. Jurassic World, the ultimate dinosaur theme park featuring a “Shamu-like” water park is now under new ownership, Masrani Global Corporation. Clearly disregarding the mistake of its initial genetic tests the park’s genetics create a new modified hybrid dinosaur that somehow sets itself free, runs wild on the island. Without Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, I wonder how Owen (Chris Pratt) plans to battle it out and become the new hero of the park.

10. Entourage

“Sadly all good parties must come to an end.”

Finally after its confirmation back in October 2013, Entourage the movie will be hitting the big screen next summer. The eight season hit HBO series recently released its first trailer just in time for the holidays. The trailer starts off with a preview of Vince (Adrian Grenier) starring in a movie as some sort of inhuman party DJ who finds himself fighting against an angry mob. The preview is abruptly cut off by a discouraged Ari (Jeremy Piven) who is now a studio head, giving Vince and E (Kevin Connolly) $100 million to create a movie. Along, with the crew including Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Drama (Kevin Dillon) the gang is back at it. As usual we can expect many cameos from current athletes and other celebrities including, rapper Common, Liam Neelson, Billy Bob Thornton, & Haley Joel Osmont as a father-son duo, as well as show co-creator, film producer Mark Wahlberg. I’m sure more awesome trailers are coming soon.
